At Graton Day Labor Center, we prioritize safe, respectful, and high-quality working conditions for every yardwork job. Employers play an important role in helping create a safe environment for workers on site.

Employer Safety Responsibilities

To ensure a successful and injury-free job, we ask employers to:

• Provide necessary tools and materials
  Workers arrive prepared with basic personal protective equipment, but any job-specific tools (such as shovels, wheelbarrows, ladders, or hauling equipment) should be supplied by the employer.

• Inspect all power tools before the job begins
  Please check that lawn equipment, trimmers, chainsaws, and extension cords are in good working condition. Do not use tools with exposed wires, dull blades, or missing safety features.

• Maintain a safe and clear work area
  Remove hazards such as loose debris, unstable surfaces, or unsafe structures that could cause slips, trips, or accidents.

• Avoid harmful chemicals when possible
  We encourage the use of eco-friendly alternatives to pesticides and toxic sprays to protect workers, families, pets, and the surrounding environment.

Additional Protective Equipment May Be Needed For Certain Jobs

Some higher-risk yardwork tasks may require extra safety gear, such as:

• Body harnesses for roof, gutter, or ladder work above 10 feet

• Respirators for work near fumes, dust, or strong chemicals

• Leather gloves for heavy wood, roofing, or sharp material handling
