At Graton Day Labor Center, we prioritize safe, efficient, and high-quality moving services. A safe setup helps prevent injuries, protects your belongings, and keeps the job running smoothly.
Employer Responsibilities: Preparing for a Safe Move
To support worker safety and successful results, employers should:
Provide Necessary Tools and Equipment
Workers may arrive with basic personal protective equipment, but employers must provide any job-specific tools or supplies needed for the move, such as:
Moving blankets or protective wrap
Boxes, tape, and labels
Dollies, hand trucks, or carts
Any special equipment required for heavy items
Identify Fragile or Delicate Items
To prevent damage and improve safety, please:
Clearly label boxes containing fragile items (glass, electronics, artwork, etc.)
Point out items that need special handling
Communicate what should not be stacked or placed underneath heavier objects
Park as Close as Possible to the Entry Point
Whenever possible, park moving trucks or vehicles close to the home, office, or building entrance. This helps:
Reduce long carrying distances
Prevent accidents from crossing streets or parking lots
Speed up loading and unloading safely
Additional Equipment That May Be Needed
Some moving jobs may require extra gear, including:
Appliance dolly for heavy appliances and large furniture
Non-slip grip gloves for safer lifting and carrying
Lifting straps for heavy or awkward items
OSHA-Aligned Safety Practices
Workers are trained to follow workplace safety standards, including:
Proper use of protective equipment
Making sure tools and equipment are safe and functional
Using ergonomic lifting techniques and safe body positioning
Checking for hazards such as stairs, tight hallways, slippery floors, or cluttered walkways
