ALMASAlianza de Mujeres Activas y Solidarias (Women’s Action and Solidarity Alliance)—is the domestic worker organizing project of Centro Laboral de Graton (CLG).

Through organizing and leadership development, ALMAS brings together women at CLG and domestic workers across Sonoma County to strengthen their voices, expand workforce opportunities, and advocate for their rights as workers, as women, and as immigrants.

ALMAS / CLG is an active member of the steering committee of the California Domestic Worker Coalition and the National Domestic Workers Alliance, contributing to statewide and national efforts to advance dignity and justice for domestic workers.

ALMAS members played a key role in the successful advocacy for AB 241, the California Domestic Worker Bill of Rights, signed into law in September 2013 by Governor Jerry Brown. This historic legislation made California the first state to extend basic overtime protections to all domestic workers.

Members regularly gather at the Graton Day Labor Center and in committees throughout Sonoma Valley, Santa Rosa, and West Sonoma County to share experiences, address collective challenges, and build solutions together.

Today, ALMAS members are part of a growing global movement that recognizes and honors the essential labor of domestic workers—and they continue to lead this work with love.
